HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC STUDY PROGRAM

The strengths of UT School in designing the curriculum that produce competent heavy equipment operators in fulfilling the needs of heavy equipment industry in various sectors are experienced experts with high competence in heavy equipment industry, well running technology transfer and regeneration, and innovative research & development.

The purpose of the implementation of Regular basic training and education program for mechanic includes two main aspects, they are the aspects of knowledge and skill, and the aspects of attitude/behavior.
  • Skill and Knowledge
    • General
      In general, this education and training is conducted with the aim at providing the basic knowledge and skill to the students/trainees concerning the maintenance of heavy equipments.
    • Specific
      To be specific, this program is carried out with the aim at equipping the students/trainees with materials regarding: - Skill and knowledge of regular maintenance (periodic service) on heavy equipment. - Skill and knowledge about removing and installing components on heavy equipment. - Skill and knowledge about simple trouble shooting on heavy equipment. - Skill and knowledge in analyzing troubles on heavy equipments through the monitor panel in the operator’s cabin.
  • Attitude/Behavior
    To equip the students/trainees in terms of discipline, integrity, motivation, learning process and positive initiatives so that they will be easier to adapt with the working environment they will face in the future.
In general, this education and training program consist of four main stages, they are the selection of prospective students, attitude and mental coaching, in class training, and on the job training.
  • Selection of prospective Students
    The selection is carried out to gain the prospective students who have strong talent and interests in heavy equipment maintenance that will be their profession in the future.
  • Attitude and Mental Coaching (Bintalsik)
    This Attitude and Mental Coaching program is conducted in the early stages in order to improve the students’ discipline, loyalty, cooperation, sense of belonging, thus tough mental to carry out their duties as a heavy equipment operator. Furthermore, the students/trainees are also expected to be able to adjust themselves more to the programs ahead. The Methods used in this program consist of 30% to 70% theory and practice. The program is carried out in two different places: TNI Education Center for twelve (working) days or two weeks and in UT School campus for an hour per day.
  • In class training
    This program is conducted to equip the students/trainees on two aspects: the aspects attitude/behavior and aspects of knowledge and skills. The materials taught in this program consist of core materials (technical & operation material andf self development) thus the upgrading skill materials. The methods used in this program are 15% to 85% theory (lectures and discussions) and practice thus simulator training for over the last ninety working days or four months.
  • On Job Training (OJT)
    On Job Training Program aims at building up the insight and strengthen the knowledge and skills of the students/trainees that they have obtained during the previous ‘in class training’ programs. In this program, the students/trainees will plunge directly into the real job sites during the 176 days or eight months. The program is implemented in the branches or the sites of PT United Tractors or elsewhere that are recommended by the UT School with the mentoring process by the UT School instructors.
